Cathedral School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to the students of the school. Cathedral School adheres to the policy of nondiscrimination of the Archdiocese of Portland.

Cathedral School is a Catholic school serving the parish of St. Mary's Cathedral and other families within the greater Portland area seeking a Catholic education for their children.

Entrance Age

Children entering kindergarten must be five years of age on or before September 1st of the academic year of enrollment. Children entering the first grade must be six years of age on or before the same date.

Registration

Registration for all students is taken during spring for the upcoming school year. The registration fee is set annually and is payable at the time of registration (or re-registration). The registration fee is nonrefundable.

New students must provide a birth certificate; baptismal certificate, if applicable; and a record of immunization required by the state of Oregon. This last form is to be filled out by a physician and parent. This form may be obtained at the school office.

Class Size

Classes are limited to 26 students in each grade. Applications for families wanting admittance to Cathedral School will be held in reserve.

Tuition fee schedule

The tuition fee schedule is set on the recommendation of the Cathedral Advisory Council in the spring of each year before registration.

Each family will receive a tuition fee schedule at the time of registration for the upcoming school year.

 

Student Fee

Fees other than tuition are determined annually and include: registration, instructional supplies, book fees and any special program fees, which occur throughout the year.

Fund-raising Commitment

There is a fund-raising commitment of $400 per child, up to a maximum of $800 per family.  Part or all of these funds may be generated through scrip sales, wrap, plant, and/or wreath sale.  Any family unable to generate sufficient funds in this manner will pay the balance due by May 31st.   Families paying full operating cost are exempt from this obligation.

Each family agrees to either procure or donate items or cash totaling $200 for the Cathedral School auction.  Each family also agrees to work 8 hours on the auction, or, pay the sum of $50 to Cathedral School for each hour not met.

Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance is available for school families.  An application is available through the director of finance.
