Cathedral School is funded by tuition, subsidy to the school from the parish and through various fundraising activities. Since tuition covers only part of the total cost of education, parents must involve themselves in many activities to help the school, including fundraising projects and personal commitments. All the components and responsibilities of tuition are defined and detailed on the tuition contract parents complete each year. To cover the additional cost of educating each student, Cathedral School has an annual $400 fundraising commitment which is the responsibility of each family for each child up to a maximum of $800 per family. Part or all of these funds may be generated through scrip sales, wrap, plant, and or the wreath sale. Any family unable to generate sufficient funds in this manner must pay the balance due by May 31st.
Policy for fundraising is prepared by the Advisory Council Development Committee which works closely with the Advisory Council to guide Cathedral School in meeting its annual, capital and endowment funding needs. The Committee develops the agenda with the Advisory Council and Finance Committee to provide a sense of direction and focus for the Development Program. The philosophy of giving established by the school is consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church on stewardship. In addition, the Development Committee prepares an Annual Fund plan that addresses the Total Cost Payment Plan for parents, an Annual Appeal to parents and alumni, the Adopt-A-Student Program, and Fundraising Events. The Committee helps to organize relationship-building activities with community leaders and assists in identifying and contacting potential major gift donors. Finally, it monitors a communication plan to parents, alumni, and current and potential major gift donors that includes information on appeals, special events, the Cathedral Herald, and recognition and gratitude of donors.

Each family agrees to either procure or donate items or cash totaling $200 for the auction and agrees to work 8 hours on the auction, or, pay the sum of $50 to Cathedral School for each hour not met. |
