Sr. Carol Lorenz, OSM - 6th grade homeroom, 6th grade English and Literature, 6th grade religion, 7th grade social studies

Sr. Carol Lorenz joined the Cathedral School staff in 1986. She currently teaches sixth grade religion, English and literature and seventh grade social studies. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Sr. Carol received her BA from the College of St. Mary and her MA from Creighton University. She is a member of the Servants of Mary community, and served as Director of Women in Formation for the community. Involved in education since 1969, she has taught first, fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades in parochial schools.

Rita Barton – 7th grade homeroom, 7th and 8th grade English and literature, 7th grade religion

Rita Barton joined the Cathedral faculty in 2006. Her teaching career began at Whittier High School and Bellflower High School in Southern California for five years and then continued at the junior high level at St. Thomas More School in Portland, Oregon, and Our Lady of the Lake School in Lake Oswego, Oregon for sixteen years. Rita enjoys teaching English, literature, and religion to middle school students at Cathedral and, as a former drama teacher, loves to encourage a dramatic flair in all of her students. 

Megan Atkins - 6th-8th grade math, 8th grade Social Studies

Megan Atkins is a graduate of Jesuit High School and Gonzaga University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and a Teaching Endorsement in Secondary Mathematics.  She has been a private math tutor, taught summer school at Jesuit, and worked with CYO for several years.  We welcome her to Cathedral School.

Liane Rae - 8th grade homeroom, 6th-8th grade science, 8th grade religion

Liane Rae was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. She graduated in 1996 from Portland State University with a degree in General Science. An opportunity to compete in track and field at a Division 1 school brought her to the Great Northwest. After graduating Liane went to Florida and taught middle school science for three years. She missed the beauty of the NW and moved back in 2003 with her husband and three wonderful sons. Liane has taught middle school science at Cathedral School for 4 years. When she is not in Cathedral School’s awesome science lab, she can be found running, coaching track, reading a good book, or just hanging out with her family.
